David Kilgour’s slinky second album Sugar Mouth from 1994 has recently been re-released on vinyl – eye-catching orange vinyl – by Flying Nun. It’s a wonderful record and a marvellous work of art with its fuzzy foldout sleeve (with Kilgour artwork) and warm lop-sided pop songs. Like much of the Clean guitarist/singer’s solo work, it has been a little forgotten about until now. Hopefully this re-issue is just the start. A second good move might involve a decent solo Kilgour compilation, catching some of the glitter from all the music this quiet achiever has released down the years.
